The Lie of Convenience
Let’s talk about busyness.
We all are busy. Some of us fill our schedules unnecessarily to look and feel busy and then use endless excuses as to why we don’t have time to grocery shop, cook, exercise, dry brush or make anything homemade. In the words of my teacher, Liana Shanti, “We all have the same 24 hours” so how we prioritize those hours is on us. We can run ourselves ragged and make food choices day in and day out that create disease. Or we can slow down. Say no. Piss some people off (they’re not your people if they get mad btw). Your body knows when it’s loved and prioritized, it can’t continue to function optimally when treated like shit day in and day out. One of these days, your poor food choices will catch up to you. Slowing down and prioritizing stillness in your routine allows you to sit with your choices, aches and pains and really listen to your body. It will tell you where it needs some tlc.
And if the majority of your diet consists of pop-tarts, chips, uncrustables, microwave dinners, (none of which are real food) then let this post be your wake up call to slow down and make better choices. We are organic humans who require food that is grown from the ground with live enzymes and nutrients in them.
This cleanse has forced me to reevaluate the way I viewed food as convenient. Real food requires you to soak it/clean it, cut it, cook it or juice it. It requires shopping, preparation time, cook time and that’s okay. Your body will respond so well to eating real food, you will be amazed at how quickly your inflammation will diminish and how much more energy you will have. Food is fuel so you can live your best life… feed it mindfully. It’s okay to not be on the go every single minute.
Slow down and enjoy the gift of today.
